Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani said Friday that the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server was “completely unethical,” but he stopped short of calling it “rigged.”
“Would I call it rigged? I don’t know if I know exactly what the definition of ‘rigged’ means,” the former New York City mayor said on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”
{mosads}The FBI announced Friday that it was reviewing newly found emails related to its investigation of the private email system Clinton used while she was secretary of State.
The New York Times later reported that the emails were found during a separate investigation regarding former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-N.Y.) alleged online relationship with a teenage girl. Weiner’s estranged wife, Huma Abedin, is a top Clinton aide.
Comey announced in July that the FBI had completed its investigation into the Democratic presidential nominee’s emails and that the bureau would not recommend criminal charges.
Trump has for months blasted the political establishment and media coverage of his campaign, calling it “rigged” and fanning skepticism over the legitimacy of the election if Clinton wins.
The GOP nominee on Friday seized on news that the FBI was reviewing additional emails related to its Clinton investigation, which was announced 11 days before the presidential election.
