Trump intro speaker alleges ‘murder’ attempt
A speaker at a rally for Donald Trump in Denver on Saturday night claimed that there had been an attempted “murder” involving the Republican presidential nominee despite no weapon being recovered.
“Media, I have to pray for you,” Andre Mahanna, an area priest, said to open his remarks at the Colorado rally.
{mosads}”You attack him every time,” he continued. “Tonight, I think the hate a lot of media raised against him caused an attempt of murder against him in Nevada.”
The Secret Service released a statement late Saturday saying that Trump was rushed off stage at a rally in Reno, Nev., after an unidentified individual shouted “gun.”
However, the Secret Service said that “no weapon was found” after a search of the individual who had been apprehended and a search of the surrounding area.
Even before the Secret Service said that no weapon had been discovered, Trump’s camp fanned allegations on social media about the commotion.
Donald Trump Jr. and Trump social media aide Dan Scavino Jr. retweeted a supporter who claimed in a tweet that Trump returned to the stage in Reno after an “assassination attempt.”
Trump Jr. also shared a tweet calling to “stop Democrat violence.”
Donald Trump was escorted off stage Saturday night amid the chaotic scene but returned moments later and thanked Secret Service.
“Nobody said it was going to be easy for us, but we will never be stopped. Never ever be stopped,” Trump said.
Trump was slated to speak at the Colorado rally hours hours after the incident.
