Netanyahu: ‘No question’ about Trump’s support for Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday praised President-elect Donald Trump for his support for Israel, predicting a close relationship between the two leaders.
{mosads}“I know Donald Trump,” Netanyahu said in an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” that will air Sunday.
“I know him very well. And I think his attitude, his support for Israel is very clear. He feels very warmly about the Jewish state, about the Jewish people and about Jewish people. There’s no question about that.”
The relationship between Netanyahu and President Obama has become strained in recent years due to differences over the United States’ nuclear agreement with Iran. The Israeli leader traveled to Washington to lobby against the agreement in a speech to a joint session of Congress.
Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) invited Netanyahu without consulting Obama, and the two heads of state did not meet during the trip.
In the interview, Netanyahu admitted that they did not have “the greatest of personal chemistry” but insisted that his differences with Obama were not personal.
