Watch out Mary Landrieu, Lawrence Lessig is coming for you.
Lessig is the well-known Stanford Law professor and head of Change Congress, his latest project that is dedicated to rooting out special interest money in politics.
The group is currently crusading against Democratic senators who have said they oppose a public option in healthcare reform. Recently, Lessig raised several thousand dollars to advertise online against centrist Democrat Ben Nelson (Neb.). The group also sent direct mail to influential Democrat donors in Nebraska and, in an email, claimed to have influenced Nelson in shifting his position.
Now Change Congress is gearing up to target Landrieu, the Louisiana Democrat. In an email to the group’s supporters, Lessig appealed for contributions and wrote that Landrieu has accepted $1.5 million from health and insurance interests.
