Republicans hire Wachovia lobbyist for communications shop

Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee have hired the former head lobbyist at Wachovia bank to be their lead communications director.

Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) named Vincent Randazzo as deputy staff director on Tuesday, saying that, “his extensive experience with financial services issues, both in the private sector and on Capitol Hill, provides him with a unique perspective and expertise of the issues before the committee.”

Randazzo worked as chief of staff on the Rules Committee before leaving the hill in 2001. He also worked as director of public policy at the Business Roundtable.

Wachovia was acquired by Wells Fargo late last year.

Seth Webb and Travis Windle both recently left positions in communications for the minority side of the committee.
