GOP group to spend $1M on TV ads backing ObamaCare replacement

An outside group linked to House Republicans is gearing up to spend more than $1 million on TV ads supporting GOP lawmakers’ efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

The American Act Network will air a 30-second ad spot in the districts of 16 House Republicans across the country, BuzzFeed News reported Wednesday.

The move comes as Republicans work to repeal ObamaCare and put together a replacement plan.

{mosads}“House Republicans have a plan to get there without disrupting existing coverage, giving your family the healthcare it deserves,” a female narrator says in the clip, while footage of doctors, patients and GOP lawmakers flash across the screen.

The ad primarily targets voters in districts that are likely to see contested elections in 2018. Congressional Republicans have vowed a prompt repeal of President Obama’s signature healthcare law but have yet to coalesce around a replacement plan or the timing of a repeal.

President-elect Donald Trump told The New York Times in an interview Tuesday that GOP lawmakers should aim to replace ObamaCare either at the time of its repeal or soon after. But some Republicans have floated a delay of several years before the repeal takes effect.
