GOP rep: Trump’s instincts on ObamaCare generally good
Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) said Monday President-elect Donald Trump’s instincts are “generally good” when it comes to replacing the Affordable Care Act.
Dent was asked on CNN’s “New Day” what Trump meant when he said over the weekend that his plan to replace the law is nearly complete and “we’re going to have insurance for everybody.”
Dent said he thinks Trump meant he wants every American to have access to affordable health insurance.
“I hope that’s what he means and I think that his instincts on this issue are generally good where he wants to see as close to simultaneous repeal and replacement, so I think his instincts are generally good, but I think he’s really talking about access to affordable health insurance,” he said.

{mosads}Dent said no one’s quite figured out how to fix the healthcare law yet.
“Parts of it need to be repealed, parts of it need to be replaced, parts need to be overhauled and reformed, and other parts will be maintained and I think all of us have to get our rhetoric right on this and it’s important for the House, the Senate and the incoming administration to fully develop and better articulate exactly what it is we’re going to do,” he said.
The House and Senate passed a budget resolution last week that paves the way for repealing the law. Dent was one of nine Republicans to vote against it.
“I just don’t feel that we’re ready to launch,” he told CNN on Monday.
“I felt like we were about ready to get in the airplane and take off, but we don’t know how or where we’re going to land yet.”
