Conservative group launches $2.6 million ad campaign for ObamaCare repeal

A conservative-leaning nonprofit group is launching a $2.6 million ad campaign aimed at bolstering support for repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act.

The American Action Network is targeting 41 congressional districts with a slew of television, digital and print advertisements slamming ObamaCare as an unworkable law, and thanking Republican lawmakers for attempting to dismantle it.

“The current healthcare system does not work and has hurt millions of Americans. It’s time for a healthcare system that works,” the group’s executive director, Corry Bliss, said in a statement.

“Americans should know that Congress has a plan for patient-centered health care and their Member of Congress is a key voice in this fight. We urge constituents across the country to tell Congress they support the plan that provides access to quality, affordable health care of their choice.”

{mosads}The ad blitz takes aim at key congressional districts, including that of Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Unlike a previous ad campaign by the group, which advocated for the replacement of ObamaCare with a more affordable system, the $2.6 million media blitz is aimed at drumming up support for specific members of Congress. For example, one ad urges constituents to thank Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) for supporting ObamaCare repeal efforts.

While she won reelection in November, Comstock’s district was considered a vulnerable one for Republicans and could likely be a target for Democrats in 2018.
