Conway: Outsider status makes it easy for Trump to fulfill campaign promises

President Trump’s much-touted status as a Washington outsider makes it easier for him to uphold his campaign promises, White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said Friday.

“You know, we’re working for a high-energy, high-impact Donald Trump, and everything he has done this week is part and parcel of his campaign promises,” Conway said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“He came to Washington as a nonpolitician, and so it’s very easy for him to deliver on those promises, either through executive orders or negotiations with the Congress,” she said.

{mosads}During his presidential bid, Trump frequently boasted about his high energy level and his experience as a businessman with no ties to the Washington political establishment. He also made railing against the country’s political elite a centerpiece of his campaign.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost,” Trump said in his inaugural address last week. “Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.”

Trump moved quickly during his first week in office to address matters such as immigration, national security and abortion through executive action.
