Miss California, who made waves when she announced her opposition to gay marriage during the Miss America pageant, will team up with a leading anti-gay marriage group in a new national campaign.
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) says the ad is intended to highlight the intolerance of pro-same sex marriage activists.
The ad shows Carrie Prejean’s answer from the pageant, then cuts to celebrity writer Perez Hilton’s statements calling Pregean a “dumb b****.”
“Gay marriage activists attack people for supporting marriage because they don’t want to debate the consequences of same-sex marriage,” the narrator says.
NOM President Maggie Gallagher says the ad shows the danger of legalizing gay marriage.
“The behavior of Carrie’s critics raises a question in a lot of folks’ minds: if this is how they treat good people who disagree with them now, what will they do once they have the power of the law on their side?” she said in a statement.
