More polls show Corzine at risk

Two new polls continue to show New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) trailing likely GOP opponent Chris Christie (R) by significant margins in their 2009 race.

A poll from the GOP firm Strategic Vision shows Christie, a former U.S. attorney, leading the incumbent 47-36, while a new Quinnipiac poll shows Christie up 45-38.

Both surveys show Corzine’s job disapproval at 54 percent–a high mark for an incumbent and the highest ever measured by Quinnipiac for the top job in the Garden State.

In the GOP primary, Christie leads former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan 46-37 in the Quinnipiac poll and 40-15 in the Strategic Vision poll.

Lonegan ties Corzine at 41 percent in the general election matchup in the Quinnipiac poll. The Strategic Vision poll has him trailing the governor 44-39.
