Orthodox papers doctor photos to remove women from cabinet

Um, wow. The Associated Press is reporting that Israeli newspapers that have an ultra-Orthodox readership doctored photos they ran of Israel’s new cabinet to remove the women members.

The Yated Neeman daily newspaper reportedly ran the photo after digitally altering it to put men where the women stood. The Weekly Shaa Tova blacked the women out, redacted style.

Ultra-Orthodox newspapers consider it “immodest” to run images of women, according to the AP.

This begs the question: Why didn’t they just not run the picture at all?
