Follow @persiankiwi for on the ground reporting in Iran

As the protests continue in Iran, one Twitterer to follow is @persiankiwi. Persiankiwi is a Mousavi supporter, is protesting at the demonstration at Enghelab Square and has been tweeting what’s going on. For some reason, Iran has not cracked down on Twitter like it has other media outlets.

Other observers, such as the Washington Independent’s Spencer Ackerman have also highlighted persiankiwi’s tweeting.

Among persiankiwi’s most telling tweets is a report that there has been gunfire in the square.

Of course, there is no way to verify who persiankiwi is.

Here are persiankiwi’s latest tweets:

several twitters hacked today. #Iranelection

have been warned not to speak too much on phone. difficult getting info. #Iranelection

there is gunfire still coming from direction of Azadi square. we are trying to get info. #Iranelection
