Cavs’ owner hit with ‘vile, disgusting, racist’ voicemails after LeBron’s Trump tweet
Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert says he received “vile, disgusting, racist” voicemails after his team’s star player, LeBron James, called President Trump a “bum” in a tweet.
“There’s an element of racism that I didn’t even realize existed in this country,” Gilbert said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
“I didn’t even tell LeBron this — now he’s going to know — but the thing is, it’s just some of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard people say, and you could hear it in their voice,” he continued.
{mosads}”It wasn’t even about the issue, and that’s what really got me, because they went to who they really are, some of them,” he said.
James last week called Trump a “bum” after Trump said Stephen Curry was no longer welcome at the White House following the Golden State Warriors’ championship victory.
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

Trump tweeted that Curry was no longer invited to the White House after the NBA star said he did not want to go.
Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team.Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!

Trump’s tweet about Curry coincided with his attacks on NFL players who kneel during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.
