Steele speech today hopes to turn corner

Michael Steele hopes to breathe new life into his flagging chairmanship with a major address to RNC officials in Maryland today.

Steele will reportedly call to end the “era of apologizing” in the Republican party and whack President Obama’s policies, saying they “could not be further to the left.”

Steele previewed his message on Fox and Friends this morning, saying he hopes to “build bridges within the party to demonstrate that we have a common threat that binds us as Republicans.”

Tomorrow, the party will vote on a resolution to re-brand Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist” party, an effort that Steele opposes.

“I am not for that at all, and I’ve mentioned that to folks inside the party,” he said this morning.
