Colorado GOP reduces Pence event tickets after struggle to ‘fill the large room’

The Colorado Republican Party lowered ticket sales for a fundraiser with Vice President Pence after it reportedly struggled to “fill the large room” where the event was being held.

The lowest-priced tickets for a GOP fundraiser in Denver were initially listed at $275 each, but event organizers dropped the cost to $150 after struggling to sell tickets, The Denver Post reported Wednesday.

The highest-priced ticket for the event comes in at $10,000 and includes a photo opportunity with Pence, a VIP reception and premier seating.

Colorado Republican Party Chairman Jeff Hays wrote in an email invitation for the event that “due to popular demand we have made more tickets available at a new lower price,” according to the Post.

He later wrote in the same email that space for the event was limited.

Party spokesman Daniel Cole told the Post that the GOP heard “from a lot of people that they very much want to see the vice president but the tickets were too expensive.”

“We couldn’t fill the large room at that ticket level,” he added.

Cole declined to tell the Post how many tickets had been sold for the event and said the party never expected to sell out the event.

He added that he didn’t believe the low ticket sales were a reflection of the Trump administration.

Pence has headlined a number of GOP fundraisers across the country since taking office.
