American voters trust some media outlets that President Trump criticizes the most more than they trust the president himself, according to a new survey out Tuesday.
According to the survey from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling, voters trust ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post — six media companies frequently targeted by Trump — more than the president.
NBC, ABC and CBS saw the greatest edge over Trump, with 54 percent saying those outlets were more trustworthy than the president, compared to only 36 percent saying they trust Trump more.

The New York Times beat out Trump in voter trust by a 17-point margin — 54 percent to 37 percent — according to the poll.
The Washington Post and CNN came in at a 15 percent lead over Trump, with 52 percent of respondents saying they trusted those outlets more than Trump.
The survey was conducted among 572 registered voters from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29, with a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points.
Trump has frequently derided the media as “dishonest” and often deems coverage he sees as critical as “fake news.” He suggested earlier this month that broadcast networks should have their licenses “challenged and, if appropriate, revoked.”
National news networks themselves do not hold federal licenses, although their individual local stations do.
