Liz Cheney: Dad’s waiting to hear from Biden

Dick Cheney’s daughter said today that Vice President Biden asked to sit down and speak with her father about the role of the Vice Presidency and then never followed up.

“Before the inauguration, when the BIdens came for a tour of the Vice President’s residencs, my dad and Vice President Biden talked, and Vice President Biden said he’d like very much to sit down and sort of hear at length from my dad about the whole range of issues he’s been dealing with,” Liz Cheney said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “My dad said he’d be happy to do that. And then, you know, there was never any follow up from the Bidens.”

The younger Cheney also defended her father’s willingness to criticize the current administration. If Obama can speak of the problems he has “inherited” from the past administration, then the former Vice President should be allowed to fire back, she said.

It occurs to me that no one is sort of saying, gosh the Obama administration, you know, needs to keep quiet about the Bush administration. They’ve been very public in terms of criticizing the Vice President, criticizing the former administration, and it seems to me we leave in a country where the opposition can be out there speaking as well. It’s not just those in power who, you know, are able to state their views publicly.
