A majority of voters in a new Quinnipiac University poll said they believe special counsel Robert Mueller is conducting a “fair” investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Sixty percent of voters said Mueller is running a fair investigation into the alleged connections, while 27 percent said they did not think his investigation was fair.
{mosads}There were divides along party lines, with 76 percent of Democrats and 41 percent of Republicans calling the investigation fair.
Voters were divided on whether President Trump should be impeached and removed from office if he fires Mueller, with 47 percent saying the president should be removed and 46 percent saying he should not.
The poll comes as Mueller’s investigation appears to be intensifying.
Mueller announced late last month that Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, and Manafort’s business associate, Richard Gates, were charged with conspiracy against the U.S. and money laundering.
Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos also pleaded guilty to lying to FBI investigators about his contact with Russians during the campaign.
Mueller has also spoken with former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, former press secretary Sean Spicer and current White House senior adviser Stephen Miller.
The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted between Nov. 7-13 among 1,577 voters. Its margin of error is 3 percentage points.
