Seth Meyers: ‘Wanna-be dictator’ Trump attacking Americans for not praising him enough
Late night comedian Seth Meyers blasted President Trump on Monday, calling him a “thug” and a “wannabe dictator,” after the president said on Twitter he should have left a UCLA basketball player in a Chinese jail.
“Not only are these tweets childish and embarrassing, they’re also a part of a disturbing pattern. Trump is clearly a thug and a wannabe dictator who lashes out anyone who isn’t sufficiently obedient,” Meyers said on his show “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
His comments come after Trump took part in a war of words with LaVar Ball, who is the father of UCLA basketball player LiAngelo Ball, after the elder Ball downplayed the role of Trump in his son’s release from a Chinese jail.

“What was he over there for? Don’t tell me nothing,” LaVar Ball on Friday. “Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”
Trump fired back on Sunday, tweeting that Ball was “ungrateful.”
Shoplifting is a very big deal in China, as it should be (5-10 years in jail), but not to father LaVar. Should have gotten his son out during my next trip to China instead. China told them why they were released. Very ungrateful!

The younger Ball and two other players were detained in China earlier this month after they allegedly shoplifted from a Louis Vuitton store in the country.
Trump has boasted that he played a role in their release and that he deserves a thank you from the players.
The players formally thanked Trump during a press conference last week.
