Conservative sting artist rented room in former top DNC official’s house

The conservative sting artist accused of approaching The Washington Post with a false story accusing Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of impregnating her when she was a teenager, allegedly rented an apartment from the former communications director of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Brad Woodhouse said he recognized Jamie Phillips’s name in a The Washington Post story on Monday, which said she approached the publication with the story.

“I was stunned,” Woodhouse told the newspaper.

“It took a little while to sink in and then it was like, ‘Really? Are you kidding me?’ ” he continued.

Woodhouse said Phillips had checked into Woodhouse’s Airbnb apartment, which is in the basement of his home in Washington’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, for two weeks.

The former DNC communications director also said Phillips had stayed in another Capitol Hill property he owned for a week in August and wanted to stay longer, but it was not available.

Two months before she stayed in his basement apartment, Phillips had created a GoFund Me page, saying she had been laid off by her job and was moving to New York to “combat the lies and deceit of the liberal MSM,” according to The Washington Post.

Woodhouse said he was unaware of this until Monday’s story broke.

The revelation comes days after the newspaper reported that Phillips had come to them with the false story and that she was seen at Project Veritas, which is a conservative group that uses undercover operations to target the media and left-leaning organizations.

The group’s founder, James O’Keefe, has refused to speak to the newspaper about the claims but appeared to acknowledge the connection between Phillips and his group in a fundraising email obtained by The Washington Post.

“Following months of undercover work within The Washington Post, our investigative journalist embedded within the publication had their cover blown,” O’Keefe said. “Please donate so our team can FULLY follow through on our promise to expose the Establishment Media in 2017 and 2018.”
