Biden Foundation kicks off online forum on middle-class economics

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s foundation launched an online forum dedicated to middle-class economics on Wednesday.

Known as the Biden Forum, it is aimed at fostering a conversation about economic issues facing the U.S. middle-class community and will include commentary and viewpoints from industry leaders, elected officials and innovators.

“I am more optimistic now about our country’s prospects than at any point in my career. Never have we had so many innovative ideas or better ways to share them. My hope is that this forum makes it a little easier to hear one another, to listen to one another, and to move forward together,” Biden said in a statement.

The forum’s launch comes as the Trump administration and Republicans work to pass tax-reform legislation that has been heavily criticized by Democrats for how it will affect middle-income voters.

Biden, who has long branded himself as a champion of the middle class, has kept a public profile since leaving office earlier this year, stoking speculation he may launch a 2020 presidential bid.

The former vice president did not rule out a potential run during an interview earlier this month.

“I honest-to-God haven’t made up my mind about that,” Biden told NBC, adding “I’m not closing the door. I’ve been around too long.”
