A Slovenian magazine is apologizing to first lady Melania Trump for a 2016 article insinuating that she previously worked as an escort while pursuing her modeling career.
The magazine, Suzy, reportedly published an article in August 2016 saying that Trump had worked for a modeling agency that also offered an “elite escort” service, according to The Associated Press.
“[The article] was understood as if Melania Trump conducted the escort job,” the magazine said. “We have no proof for that. So we apologize. We had no intention to hurt and offend Mrs. Trump.”

Trump filed a defamation suit against the magazine. Natasa Lusa, a board member of the magazine’s publishing company, said that the apology was part of a settlement reached in that lawsuit, the AP reported.
The publication also agreed to pay an undisclosed settlement, according to the AP.
Trump is a native of Slovenia, but moved to the U.S. in the 1990s. She met Donald Trump in 1998, and they married in 2005.
