Ellison calls Bachmann’s comments ‘psycho talk’

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) shot back at Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) today, saying her comments regarding “Flying Imams” who were removed from a plane in Minneapolis was “psycho talk.”

The controvsery began when Bachmann said in an interview last week with KSFO-AM in San Francisco that six Muslim Imams who were removed from a plane for suspicious behavior were on their way to Ellison’s election victory party. They were not.

“The imams, the imams were actually attending, ah, Congressman Keith Ellison’s victory celebration, when he won as a member of Congress,” Bachmann said.

Ellison is the first Muslim to serve in Congress. The conservative host who had interviewed Bachmann referred to him as an “openly, avowed Muslim.”

Today, Ellison said that Bachmann’s comments about the Imams were “psycho.”

“This is not true,” Ellison said of Bachmann’s claim. “I think it could even be called ‘Psycho Talk.’ “

Ellison was speaking to host Ed Schultz on MSNBC for a segment entitled “Psycho Talk.”
