Sally Yates: I wouldn’t have done anything differently

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates said that she wouldn’t have done anything differently while working in President Trump’s administration.

“I was in the chair. I was the acting attorney general, and I needed to do my job. So that’s what I did,” Yates told students at Wellesley College on Monday, The Boston Globe reported.

{mosads}Trump suddenly fired Yates fired from her post last year after she refused to defend his travel ban. She has since become a frequent critic of the Trump administration.

Yates also encouraged women to act like “your authentic self.”

“I can remember trials where I was very conscious of not coming across as too aggressive. I felt like I had to take the edge off because if I was too assertive, I’d alienate not only the men in the room but other women,” Yates said.

“Those days are over. You should be comfortable in your own skin and be your authentic self.”

“If we are going to grab hold of this moment, like I think we all really should, we should all be empowered to be who we really are,” she continued.

The former acting attorney general’s comments come as women speak out about sexual misconduct in politics and the entertainment industry.

Several lawmakers resigned or announced their retirements after facing allegations of sexual misconduct last year.
