The University of Connecticut has extended a posthumous offer of admission to a student killed in the Florida school shooting.

The university sent a letter earlier this month to the family of Alex Schachter, a 14-year-old who died earlier this month when a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the Sun Sentinel reported.

“We were touched by his love for music and for his love of UConn,” wrote Nathan Fuerst, the assistant vice president for enrollment in a handwritten note.

{mosads}“Alex will always be remembered, and for us, forever a UConn Husky.”
