Sixth grader in Alabama writes will ‘in case’ he is killed at school
An Alabama sixth grader has written a will “just in case” he is killed at his school.
Javon Davies said he wrote the will — a letter to his best friend — “just in case something happened to one of us because some kids get rowdy up and might end up getting somebody shot or something,” CBS News reported.
Javon extended a message to his family at the end of the letter.
{mosads}”Dear family, I love you all. You gave me the clothes on my back and you stuck with me all the time. Love, Javon,” he wrote.
His mother, Mariama Davies, said she couldn’t believe it when she read the letter, which came after her son’s school received a threat.
“I mean, my child is in the sixth grade. This is something he should not be thinking about,” she said.
“He just shouldn’t have to go through that period, because, for what? He’s in sixth grade,” she added.
“You have a lot ahead of you, and these things going on, you shouldn’t have to worry about, go through or even think about.”
Gun control has become a central issue in recent months as students demand that lawmakers take action to keep their schools safe.
Students who survived the deadly Florida high school shooting last month have been rallying lawmakers and demanding they enact new gun laws to prevent gun violence.
President Trump has also been discussing with lawmakers ways to prevent school shootings.
