Judge orders release of surveillance footage from Florida school shooting

A Florida judge ruled Monday that surveillance video from outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the Feb. 14 shooting that left 17 people dead should be made public. 

The judge sided with several news outlets that filed a lawsuit seeking the release of the footage, The Associated Press reported.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office and School Board fought against the video’s release due to their active investigations into the shooting.

{mosads}The judge stayed his order until noon on Thursday to allow for a possible appeal, the AP reported. 

The footage reportedly shows former deputy Scot Peterson, who was criticized by Sheriff Scott Israel and President Trump for not going inside the building to confront the gunman.  

President Trump said last month that he would have run into the high school even if he didn’t have a gun.
