{mosads}The San Leandro school district said the move is a “strictly a precautionary move in order to systematically inspect the school grounds,” KTVU reported.
The threat comes as students across the country hold walkouts to protest gun violence and call for gun control following a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
Since the Florida shooting, students have been leading the charge to demand lawmakers pass new laws to prevent future school shootings.
A Twitter user posted a picture that showed students holding up a sign that said “It could be us next,” which the user said was taken at San Leandro High School just minutes before the lockdown.

That same user had earlier tweeted: “I am a student at San Leandro high school and I’m tweeting for the students and I can confirm we are all currently safe and locked inside of our classrooms. No new information has surfaced about the picture or who the suspect could of been, updating soon.”
A march is also being held later this month in Washington, D.C., to protest gun violence and continue the movement.
