Three-quarters of Democrats or Democratic leaners feel the same.

The poll also finds that 55 percent of respondents are not too confident or not at all confident that the Trump administration will make a “serious effort to prevent Russia from influencing future U.S. elections.”

Another 42 percent say they are very or somewhat confident the Trump administration will make a serious effort to guard the U.S. against Russian interference in future elections.

Mueller is currently investigation Russian election interference and possible ties between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

The poll was conducted before reports Thursday that Mueller had subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents as part of the federal investigation.

The scope of the subpoena, including how far it extends to topics outside Russia, was not immediately known, nor was it clear why Mueller subpoenaed the organization for the documents instead of simply requesting them.

The poll was conducted from March 7 to 14 among 1,466 adults. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
