Trump campaign manager and NYT reporter get into heated clash over Trump’s approval rating

President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign manager Brad Parscale and New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman got into a heated exchange on Twitter Saturday over Trump’s approval rating.

Haberman tweeted about Trump’s polling figures showing him to be the least-popular president of all time — something Parscale and other Trump advisers frequently dispute.

Parscale fired back, saying that his data showed that Trump’s polling numbers were higher than the last year.

“The republican base is solid,” Parscale tweeted. “We have doubled Democrat support from earlier in the year and independents are seeing the change they wanted. He is winning again just like I predicted in the 16 election.”

{mosads}Parscale then accused Haberman of using anonymous sources from outside the Trump team.

“His political team is actually the most cohesive it has been since the start,” Parscale tweeted. “It is just this politics team doesn’t talk to you or leak. You only get leaks from those outside the team.”

Haberman fired back, telling him he had no idea which Trump officials were speaking on the record with the Times.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter then took a shot at Parscale for telling Trump his numbers are the best.

“Welcome. Ask your so-called sources, I know who, who they thought was going to win in 16,” Parscale responded. “Both your sources were playing the press setting themselves up for the loss. I did the opposite and put my whole life on the line, knowing that @realDonaldTrump was going to win.”

Haberman said that if Parscale thinks journalists are only talking to a handful of Trump staffers, “that would be a mistake.”

A new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday showed Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 39 percent, two points down from the same poll released earlier this month.
