More than 228,000 pounds of Spam recalled over found metal objects

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has recalled more than 228,000 pounds of Hormel spam after four consumers found metal fragments in their products, CBS News reported on Monday.

The agency said “minor oral injuries” were reported but there have been no additional reports of illness or serious injury. 

The FSIS was first notified of the metal objects on Friday and have since recalled canned chicken and pork produced at the company’s Fremont, Neb., plant.

{mosads} The recall covers 12-ounce metal cans with a “best by” date of February 2021, CBS reports.

U.S. consumers are encouraged to check their shelves and to return or discard any products with the following production codes: F020881, F020882, F020883, F020884, F020885, F020886, F020887, F020888 and F020889.

“Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf” cans with production codes  F02098 and F02108 — shipped to Guam — are also part of the recall.
