Police question whether alcohol a factor after FBI agent’s gun goes off at club

Denver police are looking into whether alcohol played a role after an off-duty FBI agent accidentally shot a man when his gun fell out of his holster while he was dancing at a nightclub.

The police said Monday that they were waiting for lab results following the incident on Saturday, according to The Associated Press.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine if charges will be filed against the agent, whose identity has not been revealed.

The agent is seen in a video of the incident steadying himself on the ground after doing a back-flip. He then moved to pick up the firearm when it discharged, hitting the victim in the leg.

The agent is then seen tucking the weapon back into his waistband, raising his hands and walking away from the crowd.

People in the club were evacuated within minutes, and the club said it will institute the use of metal detectors in the future.

The victim was transported to the hospital in good condition.
