Illinois woman fighting to keep ‘Impeach President Trump Now!’ lawn sign

A 94-year-old woman in Elgin, Ill., is fighting with town officials to keep a lawn sign that reads “Impeach President Trump Now!”

WGN reported Tuesday that Myra Becker was told the sign was too large.

“I can’t protest anymore and I’m not great on the walker for doing things. I could put a sign up is what I could do,” Becker told the Chicago TV station.

{mosads} Becker has been a lifelong Democrat, but said she has voted for Republicans in the past — but not Trump. She wants him impeached.

“I think the Republican Congress people are wimps,” Becker added.

A city inspector visited Becker’s home and told her the sign had to come down, according to the report. She faces a $50 fine if she refuses to remove it.

Elgin spokeswoman Molly Center said the sign is twice as large as city code allows.

Becker admitted she wasn’t thinking about the sign’s size when she ordered it. She said she simply wanted to get her message across.

She even bought one for a friend and a spare of her own.

Becker has, however, called the sign company to get a smaller one made.

“This is too precious. Our democracy is much too precious to let this happen,” she said.

Becker’s neighbors aren’t too happy with her political motive.

“If you live in this country how can you be anti-president? The man has done wonders for this country in spite of half thinking he didn’t,” Frank Shields of Elgin told WGN.
