Kristol Wants to Debate GOP Critic Matt Damon
Conservative pundit William Kristol wants to take on actor Matt Damon, a harsh critic of Republicans in recent months, and a conservative blog is putting up money to try to make it happen.
Kristol told Big Hollywood, the new site of Drudge Report ally Andrew Breitbart, that he’ll debate Damon in Hollywood. Damon has said that Kristol was an “idiot” for writing that people should be grateful to former President Bush for winning the Iraq war.
Big Hollywood said it will pay $100,000 Damon or a charity that he selects to debate Kristol at an agreed-upon time and place.
Breitbart’s site noted that Damon, during the presidential election, ridiculed the notion that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) could ascend to the presidency if Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won the presidency and then died.
“It’s like a really bad Disney movie, ‘The Hockey Mom,'” Damon said. “Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she’s president. She’s facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It’s absurd.”
