Moore’s Next Film to Focus on the Economy

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore will focus on the economy in his next movie, focusing on an “end-of-the-empire tone,” the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The still untitled film had been set to focus on foreign policy, but shifted to take aim at the economy after markets have struggled in recent months. The film may be more of a sequal to Moore’s breakthrough “Roger & Me,” a story about Flint, Michigan workers’ struggles with a lagging U.S. auto industry.

“If Moore offers a prescription for how to improve things, he may indeed find an audience that at this moment is eager for change,” Craig Minassian, an entertainment consultant and former Bill Clinton aide, told the Reporter.

It is unclear as to how Moore’s movies will fare now that his most successful target, President George W. Bush, is set to leave office in January.
