President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., said in a new interview that the national conversation around sexual misconduct and the #MeToo movement makes him fear more for his sons than his daughters.

His comments, made in an interview to DailyMailTV published Monday, come amid the tense confirmation proceedings of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault.

“I’ve got boys, and I’ve got girls,” Trump Jr. told DailyMailTV. “And when I see what’s going on right now, it’s scary.”

Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, former Fox News host and prosecutor Kimberly Guilfoyle, were in Montana on the campaign trail for GOP Senate candidate Matt Rosendale when he was interviewed.

Guilfoyle told DailyMailTV that she thinks sexual assault allegations should be listened to, but added that politics may play a role.

“I think it’s important, in terms of doing an investigation, to get the facts out there and find out,” Guilfoyle said. “People need to be careful to understand the politics involved as well, and what motivations people may have.”

Trump Jr. appeared to agree, saying of the Kavanaugh accusations: “For the people who are real victims of these things, when it is so obviously political in cases like this, it really diminishes the real claims.”

Last week, Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford both testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Ford has accused Kavanaugh of pinning her down and attempting to remove her clothes during a party while the two were in high school in the 1980s.

Two other women have also accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. He has denied all of the allegations.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings are currently on hold as the FBI reopens its background investigation into the judge.
