NFL player Eric Reid told reporters Monday that he is still considering ways to protest racial injustices as he returns to the league as a member of the Carolina Panthers.

“I said that I would be considering other ways (to protest). And I’m still considering,” said Reid, who was one of the first NFL players to kneel during the national anthem in protest of racial injustices.

{mosads}Reid was referencing comments he made in March, when he told reporters that he was “going to consider different ways to be active, different ways to bring awareness to the issues of this country and improve on the issues happening in this country.”

“I don’t think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem,” he added at the time, according to The Washington Post. “I say during because it’s crazy that the narrative changed to we were protesting the anthem and that wasn’t the case.”

Reid, a safety and former teammate of Colin Kaepernick, signed last week with the Panthers. Reid was one of the first players to join Kaepernick and kneel during the anthem.

Reid also said Monday that he didn’t discuss protesting with any members of the Panthers organization until after he signed his contract.

“I’ve talked to a couple people about it and as I said, I’m still evaluating the scope of our country and I’ll make that decision later,” he said.

Reid played his first five seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. His contract expired at the end of last season and he remained unsigned last week.

Reid filed a collusion lawsuit agains the NFL in May after remaining unsigned, alleging that teams colluded to not sign Kaepernick and him following their protests. Kaepernick also filed a lawsuit against the league alleging collusion, and his case is going to trial after an arbitrator last month turned down the NFL’s request to dismiss it.
