GOP Rep. Lou Barletta (Penn.) on Wednesday took a hit at NFL free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick while speaking at a rally in Erie, Pa.
Barletta appeared alongside President Trump at the rally, and jabbed Kaepernick while praising Trump on the economy.
“This economy is so good that even Colin Kaepernick found a job,” Barletta said.
The comment was apparently in reference to Kaepernick’s new role as the face of Nike’s “Just Do It’ 30th anniversary ad campaign.
{mosads}The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has not been signed to a team since he left the 49ers at the end of the 2016 season.
Kaepernick filed a grievance accusing NFL owners of colluding to keep him out of the league over his leadership of the kneeling protests against racial inequality and police violence against African Americans.
Kaepernick has been a primary target of Trump’s criticism of the NFL over the kneeling protests, which take place during the national anthem.
