Oprah taps Michelle Obama’s memoir as Book Club pick
Oprah Winfrey has selected former first lady Michelle Obama’s upcoming memoir as her new book club pick, according to The Associated Press.
Winfrey announced the selection of Obama’s “Becoming” in a statement on Monday, calling the book “well-written” and inspirational.
In the book, which is scheduled to be released Tuesday, the former first lady includes heavy criticism of President Trump and reveals personal details about her marriage as well as how she dealt with a miscarriage 20 years ago.
{mosads}Obama has embarked on a multicity book tour for the memoir, which will include stadium stops. Winfrey will appear with Obama Tuesday at her Chicago stop.
Winfrey is close with the Obamas and was a strong backer of former President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
“Oprah’s Book Club” began in 1996 as a segment of Winfrey’s long-running talk show, and has helped catapult dozens of titles to best-seller status.
