Business and technology magazine Fast Company named Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) congressional campaign as one of the top branding successes of 2018 following her primary campaign defeat of Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.).

In a post Friday, the magazine touted Ocasio-Cortez’s unique and lively campaign branding as innovative and a key reason for her defeat of Crowley, who was seen in the race as a longstanding House veteran in line to lead his party.

{mosads}”One of the many factors contributing to her win? Exquisite branding. Designed by the firm Tandem Design NYC, it borrowed the visual language of grassroots movements led by labor and civil rights activists like Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, making it some of the most hopeful, disruptive, inspiring political branding since Obama ran in 2008,” the company wrote in a blog post.

The 29-year-old democratic socialist defeated Crowley by double digits in a primary election earlier this year before winning an easy victory over a Republican opponent in the heavily Democratic district last month.

Since her election, the freshman lawmaker-elect has remained active on social media where she has garnered a significant follower base, posting updates about her congressional orientation and other tidbits including a post this week showing the plaque displaying her name outside her new congressional office.

She has also made headlines with her recent push for a House committee on climate change, a top priority for progressives and environmental activists.
