GoFundMe group reaches fundraising goal to bring ‘Trump baby’ blimp to El Paso

A GoFundMe page seeking to bring a blimp depicting President Trump as a baby to El Paso, Texas, has reached its goal just in time for the president’s upcoming scheduled visit.

According to a local NBC station, the account reached its goal on Friday, just 14 hours after it was created. The initial goal set for the effort was $3,500 and the crowdfunding page has since reached over $3,900 as of Friday morning.

{mosads}”We need your help bringing Baby Trump to El Paso just in time for Trump’s visit on Monday 2/11,” the fundraiser said.

“The cost will cover shipping from California to El Paso as well as filing fee. He will be joining our protest outside of Trump’s rally at the El Paso County Coliseum,” the post continued.

The post also said any leftover funds donated to the page will be redirected to the Annunciation House in El Paso, which is a nonprofit group that provides support to immigrants.

Earlier this week, Trump’s campaign announced he would be holding his first rally of the year in El Paso next week.

The rally, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, arrives amid ongoing negotiations between Trump allies and Democrats as the president tries to secure funding for his border wall.

The location of Trump’s scheduled rally is notable, as El Paso sits along the southern border and was referenced by the president during his State of the Union address this week as he sought to make a case for the border wall.
