Harris calls idea of Trump trusting Putin over US intel ‘height of irresponsibility and shameful’
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) blasted President Trump Monday after a report that he took the word of Russian President Vladimir Putin over U.S. intelligence.
Harris’s comments come a day after former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe’s interview with “60 Minutes,” in which McCabe said Trump believed Putin over U.S. intelligence agencies’ reports regarding North Korea’s missile capabilities.

McCabe said during the interview with “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley that Trump dismissed the intelligence given to him by officials that found North Korean missiles could hit the U.S. mainland.
“I don’t care, I believe Putin,” McCabe alleged Trump said.
McCabe said Trump told officials in a meeting that he didn’t believe the intel because Putin told him those missiles didn’t exist.
“I find that deeply troubling,” said Harris, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“I — almost on a daily basis, practically when I am there — meet with members of the intelligence community,” Harris said. “They are a group of incredibly dedicated, skilled professionals who dedicate their lives, often at great sacrifice, to have information that we should know about adversaries and allies.”
Harris has been an outspoken critic of Trump in recent weeks since announcing her candidacy for the White House in 2020, and she joined a procession of Democrats who denounced Trump’s actions following McCabe’s interview.
