Four Americans and a pilot were killed Sunday when a helicopter crashed on an island in Kenya, police said Monday.
{mosads}Kenya’s National Police Service said in a tweet that the helicopter crashed around 8 p.m. Sunday at Central Island National Park.
“Security personnel dispatched to the scene confirmed that among the five [casualties] were four Americans and the Kenyan Pilot,” the police added.
NBC News reported that the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has identified three of the American victims as Anders Asher Jesiah Burke, Brandon Howe Stapper and Kyle John Forti. The embassy hasn’t released any further details, according to NBC News.
Kenyan police said in another tweet Monday that the cause of the crash had not been determined.
“The National Police Service extends it’s [sic] condolences to the families and friends of the bereaved,” the police added.
