Elizabeth Warren’s dog beats other 2020 Democrats in pet name poll

Polling for the 2020 election has been underway for months, but a new poll shows Elizabeth Warren’s golden retriever, Bailey, has America’s favorite candidate pup name.

The poll, conducted by YouGov on May 22, asked “The following is a list of dog names belonging to various 2020 presidential candidates. In your opinion, which name is best?” Among the 23 democrats running for president in 2020, 10 are dog owners, according to YouGov.

{mosads}Of the 1,239 responses from American adults, Bailey gained 10 percent of the vote. Champ, former Vice President Joe Biden’s dog, and Artemis, former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s pup, each garnered 8 percent of the votes. Buddy, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s one-eyed puggle, received 7 percent of the vote.

Five dogs tied for fifth place, each with 5 percent of the vote — Bear and Buckeye, each owned by Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio); Pepper, owned by Sen. Michael Bennet( D-Colo.); Skye, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper’s dog, and Buttigieg’s Truman.

Some of the other favorites who received less than 5 percent of the vote included dogs like Biden’s Major and O’Rourke’s Rosie.

Name recognition is apparently also a problem for the pups. Fourteen percent of the survey participants said they “don’t know” which name they like best and 17 percent said they don’t like any of the dog names.
