Rapinoe accepts Ocasio-Cortez’s invitation to visit Congress
U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe has accepted an invitation by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to visit the Capitol after she turned down an invite to visit the White House.
“It may not be the White House, but we’d be happy to welcome @mPinoe & the entire #USWMNT for a tour of the House of Representatives anytime they’d like,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
“Consider it done,” Rapinoe replied Friday.

The invitation to visit the Capitol comes amid a public spat between Rapinoe and President Trump.
{mosads}The soccer star said in an interview earlier in the week that she’s “not going to the f—ing White House” if the U.S. women’s national team wins the World Cup.
Trump fired back at Rapinoe, tweeting that “leagues and teams love coming to the White House” and that he is a “big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer,” but he warned that “Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!”
“We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose,” he added.
Rapinoe, the team’s co-captain, doubled down Thursday, saying, “I stand by the comments that I made about not wanting to go to the White House.”
The U.S. women’s team defeated France 2-1 in Friday’s quarterfinal to advance in the World Cup. Rapinoe scored both of the team’s goals.
