Politicians cheer USWNT over defeating England, qualifying for World Cup final
American political leaders offered support for the U.S. women’s national team (USWNT) Tuesday after they narrowly defeated England 2-1, qualifying for the World Cup final.
The U.S. will face the winner of Wednesday’s match between Netherlands and Sweden in Sunday’s match.
{mosads}Christen Press, who started as star Megan Rapinoe sat out the semifinal with a reportedly minor injury, and Alex Morgan scored for the team.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher helped the team to victory, stopping a penalty kick that would have tied the score.
The World Cup final will air at 11 o’clock Eastern time on Sunday.
