Man arrested after making copycat video licking and replacing ice cream tub in store

A Louisiana man was arrested after opening a tub of ice cream in a store, licking it and returning it to the shelf in an incident that authorities say was a copycat of a now-viral video of a teenage girl doing the same thing last week.

Lenise Martin III, 36, was charged Saturday with property tampering and posting criminal activity after sharing a video of himself opening a container of Blue Bell ice cream and licking it, according to the Shreveport Times.

CBS17 shared the above footage.

{mosads}Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Police Commander Lonny Cavalier told the Shreveport Times his office was notified by the store’s management. Martin was found by deputies at the store showing his receipt that he did actually purchase the ice cream, but authorities moved forward with the charges.

“We discourage anyone from copying this atrocious act,” a spokesman for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office told WAFB9. “It is illegal. It’s a health risk to others. We will pursue anyone we see do this. You will be charged.”

The store said Blue Bell’s legal team is investigating the matter, and all the ice cream has been removed, according to WAFB9.

A teenage girl was arrested last week after posting a video of herself on Twitter licking a tub of Blue Bell ice cream in a Texas Walmart that has received millions of views.
