Doctors suspect vaping may be behind severe lung damage in eight Wisconsin teenagers

Doctors suspect the hospitalization of eight teenagers in southeast Wisconsin for severe lung damage is related to vaping, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Vaping was the only common denominator in the eight teens’ injuries, Andrew Brodzeller, a spokesman for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, told the newspaper.

{mosads}“It’s the only common thread right now,” Brodzeller told the Journal Sentinel. “It really does point to whatever these kids are inhaling.”

Brodzeller also said that some of the teens remain hospitalized, while others have been released after responding to steroid treatment.

He said symptoms include trouble breathing and weight loss related to vomiting or diarrhea in some cases, and noted that the state Department of Health Services has not identified any specific brand or flavor.
