Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers on Monday found a missile launcher in a passenger’s checked luggage at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), the agency said.
Officials found the missile launcher in luggage belonging to a man coming back from Kuwait, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein tweeted.
“Man said he was bringing it back from Kuwait as a souvenir,” Farbstein wrote. “Perhaps he should have picked up a keychain instead!”
{mosads}“Fortunately the item was not a live device,” TSA wrote in an online statement.
The man, who is from Jacksonville, Texas, is an active military personnel, the agency said, though military weapons are not allowed in checked or carry-on luggage.
The weapon was confiscated at BWI and given to the state fire marshal for safe disposal, the agency said, and the man proceeded to catch his flight.
